Barulho big band play Burning of the Clocks
Barulho played the ever-popular Burning of the Clocks parade just before Christmas, joined by many of the drummers who attended the seven week samba workshop leading up to the parade. We hope to do more of this sort of thing in the future...

Kemp Town Carnival flowers…
Barulho joined numerous other samba bands, dancers and a brass section from Brighton and beyond to all play together in the Carnival's Parade of Flowers through the streets of Kemp Town. Lovely to see the Kemp Town Carnival back again, huge congratulations to the organisers, may it continue for many years...

Barulho warm up a windy Meadowlands
Despite a very windy Saturday at Meadowlands that meant the bonfires couldn't be lit, Barulho warmed up an enthusiastic crowd just as it was turning dark. Big thanks to the organisers and fingers crossed for the weather next year!

Kemp Town Carnival Busk
The first bank holiday Saturday in April saw crowds and crowds of people heading to Brighton to enjoy the sunshine and sea – so what better chance was there for us to help raise funds for the Kemp Town carnival!? Starting at Jubilee Square in Brighton, just outside the library, Barulho played for an hour or so – entertaining diners eating alfresco at nearby restaurants. Soon a huge crowd gathered and the band took to the streets, parading through the lanes, finally ending the busk at outside Bartholomew House. Huge thanks to everyone who enjoyed the purple sounds and thanks for all the donations to help the Kemp Town carnival go ahead!
London Marathon
Barulho joined two other talented acts, including a gospel choir at mile 23 of the Virgin London Marathon. Sponsored by Lucozade, the band played for 20 mins each hour for 5 hours to the passing runners who, by that point only had 3 more miles to go. We were helped greatly by the fantastic atmosphere and the crowds who got involved with the music and kept us going – well that and all the free Lucozade of course! Huge thanks to everyone who came to support us and everyone from Barulho who played on the day - especially to Rachel Farrell who organised the gig. We had a great time.

Brighton Marathon
Barulho supported runners for the Brighton Marathon, by playing at Jubilee Square on the marathon route. The crowds enjoyed the purple sounds and the band made sure the thousands of runners got off to a good start! Brilliant weather and a great day for everyone, especially for Barulho’s very own repinique player, Ian Day who ran the marathon and raised over £500 for The Disabilities Trust. Well done Ian!

Barulho add sparkle to Lewes Firework Festival
Barulho paraded throughout the town for 4 hours, behind the burning torches of the Commercial Square Bonfire Society. Making just as much noise as the fireworks and bangers exploding all around us, the band played to crowds estimated to be over 40,000. The parade culminated in a huge bonfire and firework display. Huge thanks to CSBS and everyone who attended.

Barulho at Playgroup Festival
Barulho entertained the crowds at the first ever Playgroup Festival, at a secret location just outside of Brighton. Playing to happy party goers on the Friday and Saturday nights, the band had great fun at this lovely festival in a beautiful setting. Dressed in finest 'glam', the band dazzled the dancing crowds. Huge thanks to everyone who enjoyed our set at the festival.
Barulho members enjoyed getting lost in woodlands, off roading with the marshalls in 4x4's and building medieval space lego with local Brighton artists.

Barulho at The Secret Garden Party
Barulho paraded to huge crowds on the Friday night of this four day festival held just outside Cambridge. Joining the Brighton-based Playgroup collective, Barulho pulled out all the stops with fabulous Freakshow costumes, entertaining festival goers for an hour and a half at midnight, finally ending the set at Playgroup's magnificent carpeted bedouin tent at the heart of the festival.
The Saturday night of the festival saw the band parading in the run up to the breathtaking pyrotechnic display, which included the burning of a huge blimp in the middle of the lake.
Barulho at the Fringe
The first gig of Barulho's summer season saw the band perform outside the Unitarian Church in the lanes as a part of the Brighton fringe festival, followed by a parade through the streets entertaining huge crowds, dressed as the delightfully disturbing Freakshow.
